Hello there!

This is my first Post on this Blog *exciting*!

A Little bit about myself:

My Name is Rose, I am a 2o year old University Student with a whole lot of Wanderlust, a love for cooking and a Passion for Beauty and Fashion.

I own the most adorable dog, but I couldn’t take her with me when I moved out for University. I’m currently in my 3rd Semester and not exactly sure what I’ll do after graduation but I’ll figure that out along the way.

I used to be active on Blogger.com but I decided to step up my game and get serious and to start a Blog with my own Domain and where my Content is owned by me.

Starting over again with no Followers is a Little scary. But it’s also quite liberating. It’s not like starting a new page but rather like starting a whole new Book. And you can take it any direction you Chose. So I’m excited about starting over. And I hope you’ll be with me on this new journey at rosegoldstars.com.

Do you know that Feeling when you’re on your bed trying to figure out a movie or a Show to watch on Netflix but just can’t decide?

There’s either too many or not enough choices,

and it’s annoying when you have to spend more time browsing through Netflix than actually watching something.

I know that struggle too well.

So what I thought of, was the following:

I will post 5 of my favorite Shows or Movies that I’m currently watching and explain why I think you should watch it and I would ask you to tell me (and each other) which Show or Movie you would recommend this month.

Let’s get started with my 5 September recommendations!

  1. Mr. Robot:

I can not stop raving about this show. I can’t even count how many of my friends I have annoyed with “OMG YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW!”. It’s really just that good. It’s a drama/thriller show starring Rami Malek as the lead. It has kind of a dystopian touch and always finds new ways to surprise you. It revolves around Elliot a hacker with social anxiety and depression through whose eyes the viewer sees what is happening. The problem though is that Elliot is unreliable narrator plaqued by paranoia and delusion but it makes the show even more intriguing. It has everything you could wish for: hackers, action, revolution, friendship and plot twists. I have binge watched all of season 1 in one day and season 2 during the weekend and now I’m anxiously awaiting the last two episodes to be released. It feels like everybody’s already talking about this show so if you still haven’t watched it, this is your cue! And please come back and let me know that you loved it (or not, but hopefully you do).

2. The Mindy Project

The Mindy Project is more of a feelgood show. It’s very upbeat and hilarious. Mindy Kaling is a comedic genius in my books. If you like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (and tbh who doesn’t?) you will love this show! It’s not new, it’s been on air for quite while but I still enjoy re-watching old episodes. The show is about Dr. Mindy Lahiri a OB/GYN in her 30s trying to find her prince charming. She’s obsessed with rom-coms and struggles with being a single woman in her 30s and the bad dates that come with it and occasionally as well with not being her ideal body weight. Mindy is a successfull doctor who choses to see the best and positive in things and people. The entire cast is nothing short of hilarious in their perfomances and characters are  both lovable and incredibly funny by themselves and the way they interact with each other. If you liked The Office or Parks and Recreations, I’m sure you’ll love it!

3. Lie to Me

I think Lie to Me is one of my favorite shows ever. Unfortunately it was cancelled after 3 seasons which is a shame! I’ve heard it didn’t get the views they wanted in the US which is insane to me, because every person here in Germany I know was obsessed with the show when it was on TV. It’s a crime drama about Dr. Cal Lightman who with his collegues at the Lightman Group helps solve cases for law enforcement and private third parties. Most people call him the “Lie-Guy” and occasionally the “facial tic guy” because he can read faces. Micro-expressions to be exact. He always knows when somebody is lying by their facial expressions from the widening of their pupils to a nano-second frown, he catches it all. The cases itself are exciting but you also feel like you are learning to expose liars with this show. Dr. Lightman is a cynical british guy who has rather unconvetional methods and seems to never be wrong (remind you of someone in a different TV show?).

4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This is not a new movie either but I just love this movie so much. Just today I was asked about my favorite movie and somehow this movie came to mind even though I had never conciously considered it my favorite movie. It’s a beautiful movie with a sad twist to it. It stars Emma Watson, Nina Dobrev, Ezra Miller and Logan Lehrman in the lead. What I think makes this movie so great is that the author of the book that it’s based on actually directed the movie. The main character Charlie is exactly a wallflower and the sweetest boy that you will just want to hug and never let go and protect from all evil. You can tell something is off about him; his best friend has killed himself the year before and it has taken a toll on his psyche. Yet he remains the sweetest most innocent character who finally finds an outgoing group of friends of outcasts and finally finds his place with them. It is a beautiful beautiful movie with an unexpected ending and it will make you cry and heart will hurt for Charlie but I think that’s the beauty of it. It’s such a beautiful and emotional movie.

5. Neighbors

This movie is nothing short of hilarious. It’s a comedy starring Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Dave Franco and Rose Bryn and was produced by Seth Rogen so naturally it involves a lot of dick-jokes and literal frat boy humor. I found it hilarious. I actually saw it in the movie theater and loved it so much that I bought the DVD as soon as it came out. It’s about a neighborhood war between two young parents and a frat who moved in right next to them. It all started after the couple calls the cops on one of the rediciulous house parties has kept their baby up all night. It’s such a funny movie and Zac Efron’s and Dave Franco’s on screen bromance is just as funny as the pranks both sides come up with. I have laughed so much I cried watching that movie.

So these are my 5 recommendations for the month of September.

What movies and shows have you been enjoying this month?

(Not all of These might be available on your country’s Netflix, depending on where you live and some might be on Amazon Prime – remember that colllege students get 50% off-  rather than Netflix)
